Real Madrid confirm injury to captain Sergio Ramos

Real Madrid have confirmed an injury to captain Sergio Ramos.

Ramos has been plagued by injuries this term but played for Spain in their World Cup qualifier against Greece and Kososvo.

The veteran defender was brought off towards the end of that latter clash and now Los Blancos have confirmed that Ramos has suffered a calf strain.

It is unclear how long Ramos will be out for however he does seem certain to miss their LaLiga match with Elche this weekend.

Real Madrid play Liverpool in the Champions League next week and Zinedine Zidane will be desperate to have his talisman available.

Ramos later revealed on Instagram that the injury occurred after his four minutes against Kosovo, during a post-match warm down.

“The truth is that I have had a pretty tough few weeks. Luckily, for a few days now I have been feeling better, but in football as in life, bad luck also plays a role.

“Yesterday, after the game, I was training on the pitch and I noticed a puncture in my left calf. Today I have been tested and it has been confirmed that I have a muscle injury.
